Finding an affordable accommodation in Macao is nearly impossible. Been to Macao in 2009 and stayed in a quite cheap homestay but didn't have a very nice experience, I decided to give Sanva Hospedaria a try. In Macao, hostel-like accommodation is rare and so if you're an experienced traveller who doesn't care for luxuries, it could be for you.
The place is well-located, mere minutes walk from Senado Square and in the middle of the historic district. Exactly the main reason I picked this hostel, aside from its cheap price. After all, I probably wouldn't spend much time there.

Room was relatively clean considering the place's age. No air-conditioning in any rooms as far as I know, it's fans only. I booked the regular room for MOP190/night. It was rustic, to an extent even run-down. The wall didn't go up to the ceiling so it was easy to hear my neighbor's conversation. Luckily I got great Japanese neighbour who didn't make much noise so it was entirely bearable.
They provided a cupboard, sink, cups, chairs and table in the room. The cupboard seemed very old but it's ok, I wouldn't use it anyway.
To be fair, the room and the shared bathroom were both very clean and spotless. The toilet and showers were basic.
No English spoken at reception but you should be ok with hand signals.
Yeah, it's dirt cheap for an accommodation in Macao. But, if you aren't an adventurous person, you're better reconsider staying here.
