This building is a two-storey wooden structure
with highly ornate fretwork on the pediment and eaves. H.M. King Chulalongkorn
had it constructed for H.M. Queen Sawang Wattana (the Queen Grandmother). The
Queen resided here from 1902 to 1910.
The building now houses collections of pictures of royal rites and ceremonies ranging from the ceremony for laying a one-month-old royal infant in a cradle, royal state procession and royal barge procession, the Triyampawai ceremony; Giant Swing ceremony or a Brahmin rite to welcome the god Siva. Moreover, it also houses photographs of activities of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn. These pictures are valuable historical records.

From Vimanmek Mansion, we took a taxi to
Chinatown / Yaowaraj Road to visit Wat Trimit which houses the world's largest
solid gold Buddha statue. The Golden Buddha is 4 meters in height, made of
18-carat gold, and weighs in at five tonnes.

Wat Trimit |
Wat Trimit - The Temple of Golden Buddha.
Located at the end of Chinatown’s Yaowaraj Road, this temple houses the extraordinary 700-year-old golden Buddha image, a seated figure composed entirely of five and a half tons of gold. Previously, it had been covered with plaster and once broken off, the true treasure beneath was suddenly revealed - the figure was found to be composed entirely of gold. The theory is that the covering was a means of protecting it from the Burmese while the capital of Ayutthaya was under siege. It is now an important and sacred Buddha image of unique beauty. The temple is open daily from 08.00-17.00 with an admission fee of THB20.
By the time I was there, it was being renovated, so no admission fee collected. Yet I was able to see the famous golden Buddha image.

Wow! Have You Heard?
The amount of water at Siam Ocean World oceanarium = 3 Olympic-size swimming pools = The area of 2 world-class football fields!
The artificial seawater used at Siam Ocean World uses salt that came all the way from the Red Sea!
Baby sharks, sea jellies, seahorses, pipefish and over 10 other marine animal species were born at Siam Ocean World. Now... would they be considered as Thais?
The acrylic panels of the oceanarium are 6 inches thick, which is needed to hold the weight of 3,000 tons of seawater behind it! Wow!
If we took the day Siam Ocean World had the most visitors and asked everyone to hold hands, they would stretch out 8 times the length of the Suvarnabhumi Airport runway!
A great transit-marketing trick, isn't it?
